Who would a patient call with billing questions?

We provide a toll free number that reaches the account management team that is responsibly for your practice directly.  It is listed on all patient statements and we prefer that patients contact Patient Account Services, Inc. directly to discuss any account concerns.

How quickly do you submit a claim once you have the patients demographics and visit information?

All claims are processed within 24 hours of being received.

I am not a certified coder, and I am not sure I am choosing the right ICD 10 Codes and CPT Codes to ensure medical necessity?

Our medical billing services provide you with coding review and assistance. We are current on the latest coding regulations. Additionally our coders, who are certified and are specialists in coding, continually monitor your claims before they are sent to the insurance companies. Using this system provides a 99% first pass pay rate!

My aged receivables are out of control, what will you do to alleviate this problem?

Patient Account Services, Inc. can contract to provide collection on your existing accounts receivable.

Credentialing with insurance companies can be a very time consuming and confusing endeavor. Do you offer a service for that?

Yes. We can and often do take over this aspect for our clients.

I need to generate reports for my practice that will allow me to keep track of financials, patient flow and information as well as productivity reports. Do you provide me ways of obtaining these reports and data?

Yes. Our practice management software provides access to many different types of reports that you can run at the practice level or we can generate for you from our end. Our policy is to provide you monthly with a detailed report that will provide you with a overview of your practice.

What services are included with this fee?

All costs related to billing, mailing patient statements, claims submission, reports, all software and updates and training are included in your fee.

Are there any contracts that I need to sign?

Yes. Like any business transaction we execute a contract that clearly defines our roles and responsibilities as well as provides both of us with confidence and assurances.

Are you HIPAA compliant?

Yes. Our company is very committed to making sure we follow all rules regarding patient privacy.

Will I have access to a live support staff to handle routine questions regarding my practice and/or patient accounts?

Yes! Our staff is available to you via telephone support or email during our normal business hours of 8am-5pm EST M-F

Where are your offices located?

We have been located in Southern Maryland since we started over 20 years ago with a staff made up of local residents.

How can I become a medical biller and become employed by your company?

Where will the insurance companies send my payments?

All checks and EOB's (Explanation of Benefits) will continue to be sent directly to your office from the insurance companies. Since most insurance companies offer Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), electronic versions of the EOB's, and electronic funds transfer (EFT), your office will receive electronic notification of payments through the ERA. Should you receive physical paper copies of EOB's from some insurance companies you will simply forward to us a scanned copy so that we can effectively follow-up.

What happens with insurance that do not accept electronic claims submissions?

Most major carriers accept electronic claims submission. However in that rare instance where they do not we will print a paper claim on a standard "1500 form" per that carrier's instructions and mail that claim to them at no extra cost to you.

Many billing companies offer practice management and electronic medical records (EMR) software, which sometimes includes two or more programs all trying to work together as one platform. How many different software platforms do you use?

JUST ONE! The platform we use is seamlessly integrates practice management, EMR and ePrescribing into one platform without "bridges" or expensive interfaces.

Is my data secure and backed up? How do I know it will not get lost, damaged or stolen?

Yes! Your data is remotely stored on large powerful and secure servers with redundancy built in to ensure absolute safety and security of your data.

How do I get my charges to you?

Utilizing our practice management software you are able to transmit electronically your charges to our office as soon as the visit is complete.

I am very concerned about the new ICD-10 coding changes. Are you prepared for the new codes?

Yes, Patient Account Services, Inc has been preparing for ICD-10-CM compliance for some time now.  All Account Managers and Billers are engaged in daily training to maintain ICD-10 readiness.  Testing with clearinghouses and payers will commence in March 2015.  Optum PM & Physicians EMR is on schedule for ICD-10 coding capability.  PAS will be fully ICD-10 compliant by the end of March 2015, well before the October 1, 2015 mandatory deadline.
